“Snowflake Waltz”, the inaugural exhibition of ArtPort, the newly established cultural space in the historic Cornell Steamboat Building along the Rondout Creek in Kingston. ArtPort’s aim is to be a destination for art experiences and unconventional interaction between contemporary art and a wide range of audiences. A holiday exhibition celebrating the traditions of the winter season, take a stroll through trees filled with ornaments and the unexpected. Enjoy a visual exploration celebrating the traditions of the holidays.

“Snowflake Waltz,” curated by Laurie De Chiara, has invited artists and makers to share their creations for this festive exhibition of sculptural installations, objects, painting and ornamentation to festoon our many Christmas trees and transform the gallery into a magical space. All are invited to come take a stroll through a world of trees filled with decorations of a unique flavor as the upper deck of the Cornell Building has been transformed into a magical wonderland.

ArtPort’s genesis illustrates why the endeavor is so unique. First came Fleet Obsolete*, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of WWII PT Boats. Now that singular endeavor has grown to include programming inspired by the environmental, cultural and historical heritage of the Roundout Creek.
